We have seen some of the most beautiful antique bed frames and have had the opportunity to work on  some amazing projects.  In 2017 we were asked to replicate the mattress that Charles Mayo would have slept on in the 1920's.  The mattress is currently on display at the Mayowood Historic Home in Rochester.  In 2019 The Olmsted County History Center ran an exhibit about "Traveling while Black" and we were able to make a mattress for the antique bed frame in the exhibit.   And in 2022 we built a mattress for the "Mother in Law" room at the Plummer House.  While learning the from the history of these projects was really fun, our customers have also asked us to help them with some pretty cool antique bed frames. Whether you received an old hand me down bed frame or bought an antique frame from a junk yard, let us help you make it into a comfortable mattress for anyone to sleep on.

Any mattress we sell can be made to any size, however, our Shooting Star line tends to be the most popular option, available in firm, plush and pillow top.

The Shooting Star Firm features a Leggett and Platt 6" pocket coil with up to 840 individually encased coils.  Pocket coils help to reduce motion transfer and are more gentle on hips and shoulders.  We use a 1/2" firm foam under the coil to provide structure and on top of the coil we put an insulator pad down the middle to help prevent the dreaded body impression.  We add a 3/4" soft foam and the quilted cover.  The Shooting Star Firm finishes at 8" thick.

The Shooting Star Plush is an 8" thick pocket coil made by HSM.  This coil has up to 1,000 coils and more turns per coil which helps provide that softer feel.  The Shooting Star Plush also has a firmer edge which provides support when sitting on the mattress.  We use 1/2" foam on the bottom for structure, an insulator pad on top of the coils to help prevent a body impression and a 3/4" soft foam on top followed by the quilted cover and finishes at 10" thick.

The Shooting Star Pillow Top is made with the same coil as the Plush plus we add an additional 2" soft foam in the pillow top.  This mattress finishes at 12" thick.

The custom size price depends on the size of the mattress.  Feel free to print out our "guide to measuring your antique mattress".  Should you have any additional questions or need help measuring reach out to us for help.

*Don't forget to measure the height of the bed frame.  The height often gets over looked and we want to make sure your finished mattress is a comfortable height.
